PC Apex Poll

Since the Phenom will run on AM2 will you (or do you) use an AM2 setup?
I already am on AM2 and plan to stay.
I was already planning to move to AM2.
I am moving to AM2 because it will support the Phenom.
I am waiting till the Phenom is out for a while but will consider it.
I am an AMD Fanboy.
I am an Intel Fanboy.
I am not considering an AM2 setup at all.
I don't care as long as I can get my email.
Phenom-what? AM2 who?! Speak english man!

If you ever need to glue two pieces of acrylic together for some reason (e.g. you are modding the ClearPC, making your own water reservoir for a cooling system, etc.) there really is no better cement to use than cement made from the material itself (not to mention it’s cheaper to make your own). You’ll need the following materials:

  • Clean glass jar
  • 4oz. Acetone (available in any hardware store)
  • Scrap acrylic
  • Time (At least 24 hours)

*** Please be careful whenever you use any solvents that are as potent as acetone. Work in a well ventilated area with proper safety equipment. PimpRig.com nor the author of this article are responsible for any damages incurred while using any of our guides. ***

If your scrap piece of acrylic has a protective plastic skin on it, remove the skin before proceeding.

Wrap the acrylic in a towel to prevent chips from flying everywhere. Attack repeatedly with a large metal object to break the acrylic sheet into chips.

When done, you should have chips no larger than a 50-cent piece. It’s possible that during this process, the chips will pick up static electricity and attract dust. If this is the case, wash off the dust using water and then dry the chips before continuing.

Place the chips in the jar…

And then pour enough acetone in the jar to completely cover the chips. You should now transfer the jar to a well-ventilated area, such as outside, as the acetone fumes will surely kill off brain cells.

It will take approximately 24 hours for the acetone to dissolve all of the chips. During this time you should occasionally stir the mixture with a screwdriver to help the process along. You are done when the contents of the jar is a sticky goo.

You are now done and can begin gluing things together. I recommend using a medical syringe as the preferred applicator.
